NEW DELHI, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- A well-known right-wing Hindu party leader Pravin Togadia was found unconscious due to low sugar levels Monday night at a public park in western Indian state of Gujarat, police said Tuesday.

According to his party, Vishwa Hindu Parishad - VHP (World Hindu Council), Togadia went missing on Monday afternoon.

"He had fallen unconscious due to low sugar levels and was brought to the hospital," the doctors attending him at a private hospital in Ahmedabad said.

According to the doctors, he will not be able to make a statement until he gets stabilized fully.

Togadia's supporters staged protests and blamed police for his disappearance.

The VHP supporters gheraoed the Sola police station on Monday evening, and blocked traffic on the main road in the city, demanding police to locate him.

Police in Gujarat denied the allegations levelled by VHP supporters that Togadia was in police custody.

An alarm triggered Monday morning after a team of Rajasthan Police went to Togadia's home to execute an arrest warrant against him in a hate-speech case that dates back to 2015.

But the police left when they failed to find him, police said.

Reports said Togadia was at the VHP office on Monday morning and left around 11:00 a.m. local time in an auto-rickshaw, following which he went untraceable.

Doctors at the Chandramani hospital said Togadia was spotted in an unconscious state by an unknown person at a park in Shahibaug area, and then an ambulance was called.

"He is undergoing treatment for hypoglycemia after found with low blood sugar," Dr. Roop Kumar Agarwal said. "He would be discharged after his condition completely stabilizes."

Meanwhile India's state-run broadcaster All India Radio said police have started investigations in the case registered by VHP activists to resolve the mystery of Togadia's disappearance.
