SARAJEVO, March 5 (Xinhua) -- The spell of cold wave in the northern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has claimed two lives in the last days, local media reported Monday.
The first victim was 30 years-old man who was found by his neighbors in Banja Luka, 190 kilometers northwest of the capital Sarajevo. The pathologist found that the man died of freezing without any other visible injuries.
The second victim of hypothermia was a homeless man who was given help by the owner of a local coffee shop, but was found dead in the morning on a street in Brcko, some 200 kilometers northeast of the capital.
BiH suffered an extreme cold spell since Feb. 25, and the northern part of the country saw the electricity cut, havoc on highways and closure of primary and secondary schools.
