ABUJA, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Nigerian leader Muhammadu Buhari will visit the United States later this week and meet with President Donald Trump over economy and security issues, a spokesman of the Nigerian president said on Friday.

The two leaders will discuss ways to enhance the strategic partnership between the two countries and to advance shared priorities, such as promoting economic growth, fighting terrorism and other threats to peace and security, said Femi Adesina, the presidential spokesman.

Buhari's official working visit to the U.S. is at the invitation of Trump, according to the spokesman.

Buhari will leave the Nigerian capital Abuja on Saturday for the visit and have a bilateral meeting with Trump on the same day, said Adesina.

The presidential spokesman said other meetings have been scheduled between senior Nigerian government officials and executives of major U.S. companies in the areas of agriculture, aviation, and transportation.

In the area of aviation, Nigerian officials are scheduled to meet with Boeing, the largest aircraft manufacturer in the world, on Nigeria's national carrier project.

"On agriculture, they will meet with large equipment manufacturers with a focus on harvesting and post-harvesting equipment," Adesina said, adding in the area of transportation, the Nigerian officials will meet with the General Electric-led consortium for the implementation of the interim phase of the narrow gauge rail concession in Nigeria.
