ACCRA, May 18 (Xinhua) -- China's telecom giant Huawei has offered to train 10 Ghanaian students in Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) through its "Seeds for the Future Program," the presidency said in a release on Friday.

Initiated in 2008, the "Seeds for the Future Program" is Huawei's most heavily-invested global corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity.

The program seeks to develop local ICT talent, enhance knowledge transfer, promote a greater understanding of and interest in the telecoms sector and improve and encourage regional building and participation in the digital community.

It was launched in Ghana in 2015 and 45 Ghanaian students have so far participated.

The 10 students of the 2018 batch will undergo a two-week course in Beijing and Shenzhen, the high-tech manufacturing hub of China, where they will study cutting-edge information and telecommunication technologies at the Huawei headquarters.

Huawei will share its ICT expertise and experience in managing a multinational corporation with the young ICT professionals and help fuel the development of local ICT industries.

Speaking to the beneficiaries of the program at the Jubilee House in Accra, Ghana's Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia expressed the government's appreciation to Huawei for offering training to the Ghanaian youth.

He said the trainees would make up the workforce of Ghana in a few years, calling on other companies to emulate Huawei's example.
