HONG KONG, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong stocks on Thursday closed up 0.43 percent at 32,121.94 points, setting another record since Oct. 30, 2007.

The turnover continued to climb, totaling 196.34 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 25.17 billion U.S. dollars), which has been over 100 billion Hong Kong dollars for 13 consecutive trading days.

The Hang Seng Index opened 165 points up, breaking the 32,000 barrier and remained at a higher level during the morning session.

The index started to drop in the afternoon. It later rose again and closed up 0.43 percent at 32,121.94 points after hitting the lowest level of the day at 31,869.70 points.

The recent rally of Hong Kong shares tracked gains on global markets including Wall Street's main indexes.

On Wednesday, Hong Kong stocks closed up 0.25 percent at 31,983.41 points, reaching the highest ever level since Oct. 30, 2007.
