AMMAN, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Jordan Response Plan for the Syria Crisis, which puts the country's financial needs in hosting Syrian refugees at 7.3 billion U.S. dollars between 2018-2020, was officially launched on Thursday.

Jordanian Prime Minister Hani Mulki highlighted the significance of the plan for his country, saying the Syrian crisis, along with the exodus of refugees, is the worst humanitarian one since the Second World War.

The issue has negatively affected global peace and security, he noted.

The refugees' hope to return home is still hindered by the lack of a peaceful solution, which will increase pressure on Jordan and its limited resources, Mulki pointed out.

Jordan, a host of 1.3 million Syrian refugees, can no longer tolerate any more pressure, as the kingdom received only 65 percent of its needs in 2017, according to the prime minister.

Out of the total budget for the plan, 2.761 billion dollars will be dedicated to expenses related to subsidy, security, income loss and infrastructure damage, 2.125 billion dollars will be used to finance refugee-related interventions and 2.594 billion dollars will be channelled into projects aimed to strengthen the country's resilience, Mulki said.

The total financial needs are estimated at 2.482 billion dollars for 2018, 2.523 billion dollars for 2019 and 2.303 billion dollars for 2020, he noted.
