NAIROBI, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Former head coach of the Kenya national football team Paul Put, who resigned on Monday, has been approached by Chinese club Xinjiang Tianshan Leopard FC.

The Chinese side, who has been playing since 2014 in the China League One division, are keen to secure the service of the Belgian coach and will pay him 200,000 U.S. dollars just to put pen to paper. The team is based in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Xinhua has in possession a letter of offer that was sent to the Belgian, which had a 48-hour notice period for him to accept.

Alongside the signing on fees, Put will draw a monthly salary of approximately 40,000 dollars, winning bonus 5,000 dollars and 3,000 dollars if he draws any match.

"Please send us your response within 48 hours whether it is positive or negative. We will forward you the necessary documents," read part of the statement in the offer dated Feb. 18 and signed by club chairman Sun Aijun.

Put will also be permitted to hire his own backroom staff to help him with the coaching roles while in China, a proposal which was turned down by the Football Kenya Federation that triggered him to resign just three months into his job.

Xinjiang Tianshan Leopard hosts their matches at a 50,000-capacity Xinjiang Stadium. The club finished 11th last year on the 16-team table with 35 points from 30 rounds after winning 9 games, drawing 8 and losing 13.

The 61-year-old, who led Kenya to the 2017 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup, has also been shortlisted among 23 coaches for vacant Guinea national team job.
