KAMPALA, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Ugandan police on Tuesday called for continued cooperation with China in the fight against transboundary crime.

Muzeyi Sabiiti, Uganda's deputy police chief, said cooperation should be in fighting crimes such as drug trafficking, human trafficking, environmental crimes and cyber crimes.

"The criminals are well networked and it's only logical that countries and law enforcement agencies get networked to effectively deal with cross-border crime including in the cyber sphere," said Sabiiti.

"We will be grateful for support towards capacity building in these areas. We highly commend the spirit of cooperation between the Uganda police force and China," he said.

Sabiiti made the remarks while receiving a donation of a 22-seater minibus by the Chinese embassy to the directorate of Interpol and internationals relations in the capital Kampala.

Zheng Zhuqiang, Chinese ambassador to Uganda, while handing over the donation said a more secure environment will increase the country's appeal to Chinese investors and enterprises.

"The Uganda police force has taken many measures to improve the security in Uganda. I appreciate your efforts and hope the force will continue to safeguard the security of the local Chinese communities," said Zhuqiang.

"My embassy will keep close cooperation with the Uganda police force for the development of China-Uganda relations," he said.

Fred Yiga, director of Interpol and international relations, hailed the China's generous contribution for policing in the East African country.

"We are here today to receive the minibus and this facility will greatly ease on transportation needs of the directorate," said Yiga.

China has previously donated a 110-KV generator set, television screens, video cameras and training of Interpol officers to help build their capacity.
