BUCHAREST, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Indian Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu announced Wednesday to launch workshops of Ayurveda, a system of medicine, in Romania to meet the growing popularity of the Indian traditional medicine in Romania.

"India is happy to share from its millenarian yoga tradition with your country...we decided to organize Ayurveda workshops with the participation of experts, for curative-preventive purposes and so that the Romanian population will benefit all the advantages of the Ayurveda tradition," Naidu told a joint press conference held with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis.

The two officials appreciated the fact that their countries share not just similar visions, but also common goals and commitments, highlighting the fact that their meeting took place in the year when Romania and India celebrate 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, as well as five years from the establishment of the extended partnership between the two countries.

They considered it a good opportunity to strengthen the bilateral relations.

Remarking that Naidu is accompanied by a consistent business delegation, Iohannis encouraged the stimulation of bilateral economic relations and Indian investment in Romania.

"We also agreed that priority should be given to development, cooperation in the fields of culture, education and tourism, areas that have demonstrated throughout the history of the traditional relations between Romania and India that they are genuine bridges of friendship," he said.

"By intensifying investment and trade between the two countries, and also cooperation in such fields as infrastructure, logistics, agriculture, tourism, pharmacy, information technology, we can only bring benefits to both countries," the Indian vice president said in his part.

According to Iohannis, they also exchanged views on issues relevant to the United Nations for its agenda and institutional architecture in the future, taking into account that next week leaders from around the world will meet at the UN headquarters for the annual general assembly.

The Indian vice-president arrived in Bucharest on Tuesday for a three-day visit in Romania. He also had separated meetings with the presidents of the two chambers of the Romanian Parliament and will meet with Prime Minister Viorica Dancila this afternoon, during which the two officials will sign a memorandum of understanding between the two governments for cooperation in tourism cooperation.
