GABORONE, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Bright and colorful Chinese outfits and struts were in exhibition Saturday when citizens of the world' s most populous nation celebrated the 2018 Mid-Autumn and Food Festival in Francistown, Botswana second largest city.

Although there were no recording artistes doing the performances, medical professionals and business people performed colorfully songs and dances.

Chinese food was also deliciously cooked though not by professional chefs.

The festivity was organized by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Francistown in conjunction with a 22-member 15th China Medical Team based at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital in Francistown, some 430km northeast of the capital city.

Karaoke performances showed and offered a rare close touch on the Chinese culture to many Batswana (citizens of Botswana) including local officials who graced the event such as City of Francistown mayor, Sylvia Muzila and Lebalang Maniki, who is the police chief for Francistown.

For her part, the city mayor said she is really fascinated by the food. Muzila said the Chinese food is healthy and would encourage the residents of her city to consider Chinese food for health reasons.

"That food is amazing and healthy. It was like visiting China to me. The Chinese culture is fascinating, especially food. And I would love to encourage my residents to consider it," she said.

A handful of fascinated locals were for the better part of the celebrations glued to every performance by the Chinese nationals.

Also captivated by the opera performance, Mareko Ramotsababa, a former Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital Superintended, said the celebration gave him a greater understanding of the Chinese culture "in a colorful manner."

"The Chinese government is making a lot of positive impact across in Botswana. And this is highly appreciated. We look forward to having a continuous and mutually beneficial relationship with China," he said.

Mid-Autumn Festival falls on Sept. 24 this year.
