YANGON, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar will receive the first batch of 2,260 displaced people from Bangladesh starting from Dec. 15, the official Global New Light of Myanmar quoted the Rakhine local authorities in Maungtaw as reporting Monday.

Homes, health clinics, water supply, reception counters and staff quarters as well as power lines and renovated roads are ready with the Ngakhuya and Po Khaung reception centers for accepting the returnees.

Myanmar and Bangladesh agreed in August at a ministerial meeting for early repatriation of displaced persons from Myanmar's western state who fled to Bangladesh.

The 10 points agreed upon cover establishing reception centers and transit camps in both countries, combating terrorism, drug-trafficking in border areas as well as repatriation of displaced persons residing along the international border between the two countries.

Myanmar has been inviting cooperation from domestic and the international community to help the country rebuild and resettle the conflict-torn Rakhine state.

Besides making efforts to repatriate displaced people following the agreement between Myanmar and Bangladesh on Nov. 23 last year, the government is also implementing the recommendations of the Special Advisory Commission on Rakhine state.

On June 6 this year, Myanmar also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on assisting Myanmar government's repatriation process of displaced persons from Rakhine state.

The Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) extremists launched repeated attacks on police outposts in Rakhine state on Aug. 25 last year, displacing a large number of residents to areas bordering Bangladesh.
