TEHRAN, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Iran and the European Union (EU) have renewed their resolve to keep the Iranian 2015 nuclear deal alive despite the unilateral U.S. withdrawal from the international accord in May, Press TV reported on Wednesday.

The EU's Foreign Policy Chief, Federica Mogherini, met the Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Ali Akbar Salehi, in Brussels on Tuesday.

During their meeting on the sidelines of the third EU-Iran High-level Seminar on International Nuclear Cooperation, Mogherini and Salehi re-affirmed their commitment to the full and effective implementation of the nuclear deal and took stock of the latest developments in this regard, the report said.

"They also equally expressed their determination to preserve the nuclear agreement as a matter of respecting international agreements and a key pillar for the European and regional security," according to Press TV.

Besides, Mogherini pointed to the continued cooperation between Brussels and Tehran concerning civil nuclear activities.

On Tuesday, Salehi criticized EU for what he called "no tangible results yet" from the EU's economic promises to preserve Iran's interests under the deal.

A clearing house, known as Special Purpose Vehicle, which designed to allow European companies to bypass the U.S. sanctions, is due to be set up by the EU within the next few months, according to the western media.
