PHNOM PENH, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Thursday attended the first six-month meeting with the members of the Supreme Council of Consultations (SCC) to listen to their findings and inputs.

Founded in September, the SCC is a bi-annual consultation forum between the government and political parties. It is made up of 30 leaders or representatives of 16 political parties taking part in the July general election.

SCC has duties to provide opinions on government policies, give feedback on draft laws and report on inaction or violations by government officials.

Hun Sen said the meeting reflected the democratic process in Cambodia.

"Good opinions provided to the government from all political parties are crucial to help further promote national development," he wrote on his official Facebook page.

Speaking at a press conference after the closed-door meeting, SCC's Secretariat Head Chhim Phal Virun said each party representative reported to the prime minister on irregular issues, mainly relating to land disputes, fishery and forestry crimes, systematic corruption, nepotism, and power abuse.

"The prime minister welcomed the issues raised by party delegates and ordered authorities concerned to resolve those issues," he said, adding that the meeting was live broadcast via a video conference to all provincial halls and military bases.

"This SCC importantly contributes to improving work efficiency in strengthening the rule of law in the country," he said, adding "we can say that today's meeting has achieved a lot of success."
