ACCRA, March 22 (Xinhua) -- World football governing body FIFA on Friday extended the mandate of the Normalization Committee (NC) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for another six months to run football in Ghana.

The NC's mandate was billed to end on March 31 but the committee will now complete its work on Sept. 30. This was revealed at a joint press conference organized by the NC and FIFA Task Force at the GFA headquarters in Accra.

The NC was formed by FIFA in September last year to steer the affairs of Ghana football following a documentary by award-winning journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas that exposed bribery and corruption in the administration of football in the West African country.

The NC is mandated to oversee all football activities in the country while ensuring that the necessary reforms needed are introduced and implemented. The team is also charged to review the GFA statues and ensure compliance requirements with FIFA while instituting the necessary reforms and ensure that the GFA is ready for election of substantive members of the executive committee.

Meanwhile, a joint FIFA/Ghana government Task Force has been formed to create and establish proper disciplinary governance and auditing mechanism. The task force will also ensure that all persons found culpable of the investigations are punished in accordance with the Ghanaian domestic laws and FIFA statutes.

In a related development, FIFA has appointed former Ghana and Bayern Munich defender Samuel Osei Kuffour as a member of the NC, replacing Kofi Dua Adonten. Enditem
