YANGON, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese telecoms company Huawei has selected 10 outstanding Myanmar students from computer and science universities across the country to conduct study tour in China, aimed at helping develop Myanmar's information and communications technology (ICT) sector.

Under Huawei's annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) program of "Seeds for the Future 2019," the Myanmar students will make a two-week study tour to Huawei's headquarters in Shenzhen, a special economic zone in south China's Guangdong province, from May 4 to May 17.

The Myanmar students will be given opportunities to study updated technology of 5G, LTE and cloud computing as well as ICT solutions.

Vice Chairman of Myanmar National Education Policy Commission Dr. Nyi Hla Nge told the program launching event in Yangon Friday that it was the third time for Huawei to send Myanmar outstanding students for such tour.

Chairman of Rectors' Committee of Myanmar Zaw Wai Soe encouraged the selected students to study harder for they are the future of Myanmar's ICT sector.

Zhang Liman, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Myanmar, said the program aims to nurture new generation to build a future digital community, expecting that Myanmar students will become ICT experts who can promote the development of the sector.

Representing the selected students, female student Ma Pwint Phyu Te Khaing expressed appreciation of the rare opportunity, saying that it will be effective to participate in building digital Myanmar through the use of the expertise obtained during the study.

"Seeds for the Future" program started in Myanmar in 2017 and has become an annual event to select outstanding students to be sent to China for further study.

So far, thousands of students from hundreds of universities across the world have been given the opportunity of such study tour in China.
