RIO DE JANEIRO, July 27 (Xinhua) -- China-Brazil relations, which are already "stable and mature," could be further strengthened in the future, experts said here Friday during a seminar marking the 45th anniversary of China-Brazil diplomatic ties.

China-Brazil cooperation has flourished over the past decades, and has evolved from a relationship based mostly on trade to a comprehensive strategic partnership, said Tatiana Rosito, chief representative at the Beijing Representative Office of Brazil's oil and gas giant Petrobras.

"There is no stable and mature relationship between countries if not as the product of permanent will, from both sides, to build a harmonic relationship," Rosito said at the seminar themed "45 Years of Brazil-China Diplomatic Relations: From Trade to A Global Partnership."

Brazil should further cooperate with China, a country with amazing economic growth, to boost its own economy, said Brazil-China Business Council President Luiz Augusto de Castro Neves.

As a country with a large population, China has a strong demand for food products, which Brazil is in a prime position to supply, Neves said.

Noting the importance of Brazil-China ties, Neves said "Brazil needs to do its homework."

Both countries should strengthen interactions between the private and public sectors to achieve more cooperation results, said Celio Hiratuka, a professor at the Economics Institute of Brazil's Campinas State University.

"It is urgent to understand China in all its dimensions," said Hiratuka, adding that Brazilian academics should learn more about China.

With the relationship between Brazil and China being as solid as it is, Brazil can take the lead in advancing China-Latin American relations, the relations between China and Portuguese-speaking countries and South-South cooperation, said Song Junying, head of the Department for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the China Institute of International Studies.
