ULAN BATOR, Aug.2 (Xinhua) -- China's Enlai Foundation and the Mongolian Ministry of Labor and Social Protection organized a charity event here on Friday to celebrate the long-standing friendship between the two countries.

Officials from China and Mongolia, including Xing Haiming, Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia, Shen Qing, descendent of late Chinese premier Zhou Enlai and director of Enlai Foundation, and senior officials of the Mongolian Ministry of Labor and Social Protection attended the event entitled "Friendship Bell."

"The event is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Mongolia. We are organizing the event to contribute to the further development of China-Mongolia relations," Shen told Xinhua during the event.

Hearing-aid kits, schoolbags, sets of drawing supplies and other necessities worth 1.28 million yuan (184,500 U.S. dollars) were handed over to the Mongolian side.

"This donation is vital for our country's children with hearing impairment. We will give them to hearing-impaired children from poor families," Sandag Tungalagtamir, head of the Population Development Department at the Mongolian Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, told Xinhua.

Mongolia has more than 11,500 disabled children, including some 700 who suffer from hearing loss, according to the official.
