TAIYUAN, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- An exhibition featuring meteorolites began Friday in North China's Shanxi Province.

A total of 60 meteorolites are on display at the Shanxi Museum of Geology. The exhibits are from both home and abroad, according to the museum curator Shi Jianru.

"The most impressive meteo is the one found in the northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region," Shi said. "It is cubic and shines in the sun."

Another striking meteo comes from Russia, which is embedded in a petrified tree branch.

"The meteo was found in Vladivostok," Shi said. "When people found it, it was already embedded in the branch, which is why it is shown this way at the exhibition."

Organizers hope that the event will help the public understand the charm of meteorolites and geology.

The show will last until Sept. 20.
